In 2012, Giving Tuesday started as a global movement encouraging people to do good. Historically, the days after the Thanksgiving holiday have been full of shopping with “Black Friday” and, later, “Cyber Monday.” Nonprofit organizations around the world participate in Giving Tuesday campaigns to help inspire the spirit of giving.

Many folks make donations at the end of the calendar year as they are looking at their giving and spending in the year and planning for upcoming tax dates. Thus, many nonprofit organizations, including PALS, have relied on donations during the holiday season as one of the most important fundraising campaigns of the year.  At PALS, there are so many ways to give, which so many of you do so generously every year. This year, we need funds to help offset the costs of programs, and to help cover the unexpected changes we are making to offer safe, inclusive programs in 2021.

Nonprofit organizations, including PALS, have relied on donations during the holiday season as one of the most important fundraising campaigns of the year.

The PALS Promise is our commitment to inspiring a world of belonging for everyone.  Missing PALS this past summer left a void in the lives of the over 1500 campers and volunteers who were planning to join us. As we look toward continued months of uncertainty amidst a difficult year, I often reflect back to previous summers at PALS. I'm reminded of what it feels like to be embraced in a world of genuine passion, mutual respect, and pure joy. I think of my brother, the isolation we've both experienced this year, and the desperate need for connection.

I pray that PALS will have the ability to continue to impact the world and transform lives and to give us all hope that this world could be different.  This Giving Tuesday, we are grateful for your support in our mission, and your willingness to join us as we work to inspire a world of belonging.
