A group of students from Salesianum School, in Delaware, created fundraising pages for PALS and raised $2,495. Thank you so much to Kian, Evan, Ryan, Dylan, Connor, Abel, and Joseph for your fundraising efforts! We asked them to reflect on their experience and why they decided to fundraising for PALS as high school students. Here is what Connor and Kian shared on behalf of the group:
From Connor:
“We heard about PALS through our high school, Salesianum. As seniors, we were required to complete a certain amount of service hours to give back to the community and to help make the world a better place. We were given an extensive list of foundations and charities that would be suitable to work with. After doing a lot of research on each name on the list, PALS stuck out to the group, and me specifically in a big way. My mother is a teacher for children with disabilities, so I have a soft spot in my heart for those who she spends her life helping. We all chose to work with PALS to help change people’s lives, because it was really clear what they stood for, and it was very evident that they were striving towards just that.
As the year went on, we saw this more as an opportunity than a requirement, and we enjoyed working with PALS because we felt like we were really making a difference in our community. It was not until I graduated that I realized just how big of a program PALS had. I saw someone where I work with a “PALS” shirt on and I started a conversation with him, asking what his relation to PALS was. He went on about how he volunteered at a PALS program that was halfway across the country! It truly meant a lot to us as a group to truly work towards a cause that will truly give people happiness and hope for better things to come.
As a group, on behalf of the entire Salesianum community, would like to thank PALS for working towards a better future, and making EVERYONE feel loved.”
From Kian:
“I learned about PALS through Salesianum. I was given the option to work with PALS, and it just felt like the perfect fit. I felt as if fundraising for PALS would be the best way to help my community as a whole. PALS mission is so important because it doesn’t just impact individuals for the better, it impacts their families and communities as well. It was an awesome experience fundraising for such an amazing organization.”
