Why PALS: Genuine Friendships & Connection

BY DANIEL MONTERO

PALS Program Lead

We often ask members of our PALS Community "Why PALS?" to learn how our mission has impacted their lives. We can't wait to start off PALS Summer 2023 THIS MONTH in Baltimore! Hear from PALS Program Lead, Taco, about what he is excited for, plus how he is supporting PALS.

"After one camp, I was hooked. Never had I met such a genuine group of people, both Partners and Peers."

Dear PALS Family,

Let me introduce myself. My name is Daniel Montero and I have been with PALS since 2018. I have had the opportunity to go to PALS New Jersey every year since my start. Even one year doing three camps, adding Baltimore and Maine to the list. I was also an ambassador for two years working to spread the experience of PALS through the school year. During my first camp, I acquired the nickname of Taco. I was told about PALS from a friend I knew from high school and it sounded like fun. After one camp, I was hooked. Never had I met such a genuine group of people, both Partners and Peers.

I share the impact of PALS through my personal fundraising page. Fundraising is so important for PALS. We literally cannot make the impact we do without it. If every participant creates a fundraising page and reaches out to their network, we can really grow and expand the reach that we currently have at PALS to inspire a world of belonging for all.

I keep returning to PALS because each and every connection is so special and leaves me wanting more. This summer, I am excited for a brand new adventure. I have the great pleasure of serving as a Program Lead at PALS New Jersey. As a special bonus, I get to celebrate my birthday at camp! I can't think of a better way to celebrate - surrounded by friends at the happiest place on earth.

PALS Love,
Taco

All summer long, we will be sharing stories from our community on the impact of PALS and how you can be part of inspiring a world of belonging. Through personal fundraising pages, participants and volunteers have the opportunity to share about the mission of PALS with their community. Get involved today here!
