National Volunteer Month: Steve Ross

BY STEVE ROSS

PALS Executive Board Member

PALS launched 21+ Modified Programs for the first time in 2019 at PALS Wildwood. It was an opportunity to offer participants increased independence, more flexibility with the schedule, and a shorter program for those in the workforce. We have seen the meaningful opportunity this has brought to our community through the first-ever program at Wildwood and last summer at PALS Atlantic City. This summer, we are excited to host 4 Modified Programs in Chicago, Maine, Atlantic City, and DC. Modified Programs offer a great chance for young adults in the workforce to utilize their Volunteer Time Off. This past month, Elastic featured Steve Ross, PALS Executive Board Member and Volunteer, as he shares about using VTO to volunteer at PALS.

While a Director of Software Engineering at Elastic, Steve Ross has supported and volunteered with PALS, most recently in Seattle last summer.

Steve has a passion for supporting the cause because “it’s a place where people can come together to meet others that are different from themselves and experience true belonging.” He has volunteered with PALS for the past 15 years, supporting as a Peer, Program Lead, and Executive Board Member.

“Elastic’s Volunteer Time Off policy has enabled me to continue committing my time and energy to an organization that has meant so much to me over the years. The culture of volunteerism at Elastic means that I not only can go and volunteer with PALS to help spread inclusion, but I can also share my experience and invite others to participate in the PALS mission as well.”

Check out the post from Elastic highlighting Steve here. We are so grateful for PALS Volunteers, such as Steve, who join our volunteer-led programs. During National Volunteer Month, check out what your company may offer & use Volunteer Time Off to join PALS 21+ Modified Programs. You’ll have the opportunity to have fun, build friendships, and explore a new city through PALS - all while inspiring a world of belonging.
