Summer camps are more than just a break from the daily grind; they're an opportunity for growth, adventure, and connection. PALS Programs, a unique and inclusive camp, has been making waves by bringing individuals with and without Down syndrome together for memorable summers filled with laughter, learning, and friendship. What started as a small initiative has blossomed into a thriving community where diversity is celebrated and differences are cherished and our PALS Family is eager to share that!

This past season, PALS Summer Camp experienced an impressive recruitment surge, showcasing the power of its mission. These stats on where folks learn about PALS tell a compelling story:

  • 47% Through Friends and Family: Nearly half of the campers learned about PALS through the most powerful form of marketing—word of mouth. Friends and family members, who had experienced the magic of PALS firsthand, played a significant role in spreading the word. This statistic highlights the Camp's strong sense of community and the positive impact it has on both campers and their loved ones.

  • 41% Through School or Club: Schools and clubs also played a crucial role in recruiting campers. Many students heard about PALS through their school networks or extracurricular clubs, further emphasizing the Camp's commitment to reaching out to a broader audience. School partnerships and club collaborations have been instrumental in diversifying the camp's attendees.

The success of PALS Programs wouldn't be possible without its dedicated peer volunteers. In the past season, a remarkable 495 peer volunteers enthusiastically joined the program. These volunteers, often young adults looking to make a positive impact, bring their enthusiasm, energy, and a willingness to create an inclusive environment.

Impressively, 42 individuals were so inspired by their first PALS experience that they decided to return for multiple programs. This speaks volumes about the transformative power of the camp and the deep connections formed between campers and volunteers.

PALS Programs is a shining example of what can be achieved when inclusivity, passion, and dedication come together. With recruitment numbers on the rise, it's clear that the Camp's mission to serve individuals with and without Down syndrome is resonating with a growing audience. The PALS Staff is eager to see what 2024 brings!

If you're looking for a summer camp that changes attitudes, transforms lives, and inspires a world of belonging, PALS Programs is the place to be. Join the PALS family, and let the magic of inclusivity transform your summer!
